Walks

We have a programme of guided walks in Northumberland all year round.

We also provide guided walks in the North Pennines, Lake District, Yorkshire Dales and Hadrian’s Wall. The Cheviot, Windy Gyle, Cross Fell and Scafell Pike are just a few of the days out we can offer.

We can also provide a guide for your National 3 Peaks, or Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge.

In addition to our full programme of walks, we are happy to put forward ideas and suggestions as to what will suit a particular group or individual. Groups of all ages and abilities can be provided for, whether you want a family stroll, or a more strenuous day in the hills. We try to offer an adventurous day out, and many of our walks get off the beaten track; you will not always be led along a waymarked trail, and there may not be a visible path underfoot.

We also aim to make our walks informative, and most importantly, fun!

If the walk you want is not listed, please contact us. Or, if you would like the walk on another day, again contact us.

Hadrian’s Wall Charity Challenge Walk

You choose the charity and get sponsorship, we’ll support you throughout the day, and get you back to the start.
This is a linear walk, taking in some of the most spectacular sections of the Wall. We’ll cover a distance of 17.5m/27k, from Walltown to Chollerford, and it should take around eight and a half hours to complete.

This walk is NOT self guided; there will be a leader with you all the way.
The price does NOT include transport back to Walltown; this is to be paid for on the day.

A minimum of four clients are required for a walk to take place. A support vehicle will be provided for larger groups.

Due to the popularity of this walk, particularly with the various charities we have worked with, we have added dates for 2021. In addition to the long route, there will be the option of two shorter routes; 15m/24k or 10m/16k.

Yorkshire 3 Peaks

The Yorkshire 3 Peaks is a challenge walk which takes in Pen-y-Ghent (691m), Whernside (728m) and Ingleborough (723m) usually in that order.
It is a demanding but rewarding route, covering almost twenty five miles, with most participants aiming to complete in under twelve hours.
We provide a support vehicle for larger groups.

We will be running the Yorkshire 3 Peaks most weekends between April and September. Midweek dates are also available, please contact us for availability.

Minimum group size of four.

The Lake District 5 Peaks Challenge

This is a long, but rewarding challenge, starting and finishing in Langdale.
From the Old Dungeon Ghyll we’ll be heading to Rossett Pike, then on to Allen Crags.

Next up is the highlight of the day: Scafell Pike. There is a steep climb to the summit of England’s highest mountain at 978m, however the views are well worth the effort.

On a clear day, they stretch to the Isle of Man and Scotland.

Our return route takes us over the peaks of Esk Pike and Bowfell before descending back down into the Langdale valley in time to celebrate with a well earned beer.

The Windy Gyle Challenge

This is a great, long day out in the Cheviot Hills, and works well as a fundraising walk, or bonding exercise.
It can easily be shortened to suit the group.

From the small village of Alwinton, we’ll head off up Clennell Street, and follow an almost figure of eight route eventually taking in Windy Gyle and the Border Ridge.

We’ll enjoy the vierws from here for a while, and hopefully will see some of the local wild goats, before gradually descending and heading back to Alwinton.
